Word Map In a Word Map, students will place the WM word in a bubble in the center of the page. They will then create five branches. The branches will include the part of speech, the definition, synonyms, antonyms, and the word used in a well-developed sentence.

SAVI Flashcards: This is the basic flashcard with a bit of a twist. On one side you have the word and part of speech, and on the other you have the definition and a TRUE, well-developed sentence that will become a mnemonic device to remember the word.
Artistic Flashcards: This is for the artist. On one side you have a creative picture that represents the word. On the other, you have the word, part of speech, and definition. The drawing essentially replaces the well-developed sentence.
Cornell Notes: Begin Cornell Notes by folding the paper vertically. Begin with the word and part of speech on the left side of the page. Write the definition and a sentence across from the word on the right side of the fold.
Mnemonic Acrostic: This is for creative writers. Each letter should connect to the word's meaning in some way. Here's a student example for the word *mordant:
